CROSWELL, Michigan – Tuesday, March 9 will long be remembered by seven North Oakland County Fire Authority firefighters after they traveled to Croswell to enjoy wild boar chops and baked beans at Sunrize Acres with Ted Nugent, the “Whackmaster” himself.

Since October of last year, NOCFA firefighter, George Murray has been working with Nugent in coordinating the signing of a Fred Bear recurve bow to be given away at NOCFA’s 2010 Firefighter Archery Shoot Out. “Ted was very gracious of his time and extremely supportive of firefighters,” Murray said.

Tickets for the recurve bow drawing can be purchased for $1 from any NOCFA firefighter or at NOCFA Headquarters, 5051 Grange Hall Road, beginning on April 1. The 2010 NOCFA Firefighter’s Archery Shoot Out is open to the public and slated for Aug. 29. All proceeds from the event will be used by the NOCFA Firefighters Association to support community activities, youth sports, and the NOCFA Benevolent Fund.

For more information, contact NOCFA Headquarters at (248) 634-4511 or visit them online at www.nocfa.org.

People who run into burning houses are pretty crazy, they fit right in with Uncle Ted. Maybe you wouldn't do it, maybe I wouldn't do it, but aren't you glad someone is willing? Ted gets paid a lot more for being crazy, and I'll bet the Sparkys had a great time! I'll bet they had a ball!

wonder how many taxpayer dollars were spent driving the firetruck - in the picture - to coswell, and how long this piece of equipment was out of service while the firemen filled up on baked beans and boar chops. is this the best use of taxpayer dollars in these hard times. i'm sure the "motor city madman" would have signed the bow without the use of the firetruck.
