Matthew Hoskins

ST. LOUIS, Missouri - Matthew Hoskins, a senior at Holly High School, was recognized for receiving a FIRST Robotics scholarship from Kettering University during FIRST Nationals in St. Louis, MO, April 26.
Hoskins’ team competed at Nationals April 25-27 in the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis.

“In FIRST, you’re building robots but you’re also building friendships,” Hoskins said. “I want to work in biomedical engineering and work with prosthetics, and FIRST has been good preparation. I want to help people.”

FIRST scholarships, totaling $22,500 over 4.5 years of school, are awarded yearly by Kettering University to future Kettering students who participated in FIRST, submit two letters of recommendation and write a one-page essay highlighting their leadership skills and how FIRST helped prepare them for a professional career path.

Kettering University, located in Flint, is a national leader in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and business education and the premier co-op and experiential learning-based institution in the country.
