HOLLY, Michigan – Superintendent for Holly Area Schools, Kent Barnes wants to see just how creative the district’s students after making the announcement that he will be hosting a student slogan contest.

In addition to coming up with a catchy slogan that summarizes why Holly Area Schools are the best around, students choosing to participate in the contest will also be asked to submit an essay not to exceed 250 words also explaining why the student enjoys attending Holly Area Schools.

Barnes said up to four $50 cash prizes will be doled out to the winning Holly High School participants, while up to two $50 cash prizes will be up for grabs at the middle school level. Barnes said up to four $50 cash prizes will be given at the elementary school level – one for each elementary school building in the district.

The prize money, Barnes said, does not come from taxpayer’s pockets, but rather from a donation made by an anonymous resident in the community.

Students’ entries must be received by the respective school offices no later than the end of the day, Friday, Jan. 27, 2012.
