Members of the Holly Hall of F... HOLLY, Michigan – While it may be difficult to imagine Holly High School’s colors being anything but red and white, it’s even tougher to fathom that they were once the very same colors as Holly’s arch rival - Fenton High School, but it’s true.
And how did Holly High School become the home of the “Bronchos” with the ever-questioned “chos” at the end?
Facts and questions like these prompted Holly High School Athletic Director, Deb Van Kuiken to set up a Q and A session in which three notable Hollyites, all of whom are members of the Holly High School Hall of Fame Committee, met to set the record straight in Holly High School’s book of history.

Residents say it's impossible ... HOLLY, Michigan – Millpond residents were back in village chambers for the second time this summer, this time disputing information received from Holly’s Department of Public Works regarding logs and notes kept on the millpond dam gate maintenance.
Millpond resident Jim Clark led the discussion during the public comment segment on Aug. 10.
Clark previously attended the July 13 Village Council meeting, telling council members about the overly weedy condition of the millpond, and insisting that prior chemical treatments to the millpond were spoiled by DPW staffers opening the gates too soon after a treatment had occurred.

Pulte progress had come to a s... HOLLY, Michigan – Robert and Yvonne Thacker never dreamed their sewer bill woes would result in an intense shouting match between Village President Pete Clemens and Holly resident and council hopeful, Larry Lilly, but it did. The Thackers attended the Aug. 10 Village Council meeting to dispute a $2,000 sewer bill they received for unpaid sewer services dating back to 2006.
“In 2003, Pulte built a new subdivision in back of us,” a soft spoken Yvonne Thacker said. “In order to build that subdivision, they had to come through the property that we bought in 2004 for the sewage – to lay a line,” she added. “In order to do that, they had to have many permits, am I correct?”

HOLLY, Michigan – A collective groan of disappointment was heard in the village chambers Tuesday evening as Village Manager Marsha Powers announced that two key department heads will be retiring this year.
While Marv Swanson, current manager for the village’s Department of Public Works is set to retire Aug. 29 after 32 years of service, it was the news that Police Chief Rollie Gackstetter submitted a letter on Monday, announcing his impending retirement, that surprised everyone the most.
