HOLLY, Michigan – As the village of Holly prepares for the yuletide season, the Department of Public Works is asking residents to consider donating a tree to the cause.

“Every year we put a tree up in front of the Village Offices,” Brian Klaassen, manager for Holly’s DPW said on Monday. “If a Holly area resident has a big pine – say 16 to 18-feet tall or so and wants to get rid of it, we’ll come out, take it down for them, and do all the restoration in return for the tree,” he said.

Klaassen said the village will haul the tree away and have it up and decorated just in time for the village’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6 p.m. on Friday Nov. 26 during which time, the village will present this year’s Family of the Year Award.

Those wishing help make the village’s Christmas a little merrier by donating a tree can contact Klaassen at (248) 634-2202. Klaassen is hoping to have a tree lined up by Nov. 22.
