HOLLY, Michigan – A routine street patrol in the early morning hours of Friday, May 28 resulted in the arrest of two local youths as they were in violation of the village of Holly’s curfew ordinance.
According to Lt. Scott Fischer, patrol officers observed two people walking on Elm Street around 2.a.m., one of whom was known by the officers to be only 16 years old and in violation of Holly’s curfew ordinance.
A search of the 16-year-old prior to being put into the patrol car yielded a Baggie containing marijuana.
The second Holly youth, 17, was speaking with officers when he began reaching toward his back. While attempting to check him closer, the teen shifted his weight at which time a .38 caliber revolver fell from his waistband to the ground.
Both the 17-year-old and his 16-year-old companion were taken into custody and transported to the Holly Police Department. The 16-year-old juvenile was released into the custody of his mother pending the issuance of juvenile petitions.
The 17-year-old was transported to the 52-2 District Court in Clarkston and arraigned on one count of Carrying a Concealed Weapon, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison or $2,500. It was also determined that the 17-year-old is currently on District Court Probation stemming from a Minor in Possession of alcohol charge.
Magistrate Mark Sadecki set the teen’s bond at $25,000, a preliminary examination date was set, and he was remanded to the Oakland County jail.
