HOLLY TOWNSHIP, Michigan – Holly Heritage Farm isn’t just a fun place to visit – it’s a place where enthusiastic gardeners can grow fresh vegetables of their own this summer.

The Holly Heritage Farmstead is offering 50 plots, each 10 by 25 feet in size, plowed, disked and fenced to those interested gardeners for $15. The plots are located in the north field of the Farmstead Museum, 13409 N. Holly Road.

Community Garden coordinator Sue Julian said gardeners will be part of a collaborative effort, working their own plots and also watching out for the success of others. Plots will be available for planting on June 5, and gardeners can hand-carry water from the Swartz Creek, or bring water from home.

Those interested in obtaining a plot can sign up during Holly’s Plow Dayz event from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., or call Julian at (248) 634-3513.

This is a good way to get some of our kids active in agriculture and understanding the way that things grow. With 50 plots (hopefully they all sell out), there should be a good variety of flowers and vegetables to see growing. It will be good to get everyone off the couch and active with a garden plot.
