HOLLY TOWNSHIP, Michigan – Dale Smith, Bernice Alexander, George Barton and William Angus were recognized during Wednesday’s Holly Township Board of Trustees meeting, when Supervisor Jesse Lambert thanked the group for their many years of service to the community.
“After walking into several different municipalities and seeing this type of award, I realized we did not have an award for longevity in Holly Township,” Lambert said. “All of these individuals have shown an extraordinary level of commitment to the community of Holly, and collectively, have dedicated over 50 years to the community.”
Angus, who was the only recipient in attendance at the meeting, accepted the award on behalf of the group. |

ROSE TOWNSHIP, Michigan – At the request of township auditing firm Pfeffer, Hanniford and Palka, township officials passed a resolution to transfer $25,000 into the building and inspection fund, the only fund with a deficit balance.
“Basically, it resolves that the township of Rose adopts the plan that’s on this resolution which shows the income expenditures and shows a transfer from the general fund of $25,000 to reconcile last year’s,” said Supervisor Alison Kalcec.
“This year, we’ve done some significant changes to how we’ve budgeted and how we’ve put the expenses to that building fund, and we’ll be monitoring that,” she said. “We have budget amendments that come up next February, but this needs to go, if we adopt it, in with our auditing report to the state of Michigan.”
Treasurer Sue Slaughter asked whether the money was in a form of a loan or a direct transfer to the fund.
“We talked about the difference between actually transferring money to them or loaning money to them,” Kalcec said. “But for this one, they would actually like to see us transfer the money to them like we do for the cemetery and fire and those.”
The Rose Township Board of Trustees unanimously passed the resolution. |
