HOLLY TOWNSHIP, Michigan – Green-minded residents will be happy to learn that the Holly Township Board of Trustees unanimously approved the motion to reinstate the community’s recycling program.
The decision was made during the Feb. 15 board meeting.
Included in the program are six “Boxxster” recycling containers located at the old North Oakland County Fire Authority station, 4092 Grange Hall Road, Holly. There, Holly Township residents are able to recycle glass, plastic and household metals on a 24/7 basis.
“We are expecting a lot of plastic bottles, however residents will still have the opportunity to also recycle glass and aluminum,” Holly Township Clerk, Karin Winchester said. “The township also has the ability to stock more or less containers, depending on the community’s involvement in the program,” she added.
Supervisor Jesse Lambert said the board still has plenty to discuss as the program moves forward, but is confident that there will be enough commitment from residents to ensure the program’s success. “The real question is how much and what will Holly Township residents recycle,” Lambert said. “With this information, Holly Township will then be able to plan out a recycling program for the long run.”
