Village amends domestic violence ordinance

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Village of Holly has adopted the following ordinance amendment on:

EFFECTIVE DATE: 
   Immediately upon publication

The proposed ordinance amends Village of Holly Ordinances, subsection 4-02-02-071 of Article 4-02-02 of Chapter 4-02 of the Village of Holly Code of Ordinances by amending the following:

4-02-02-071.    Domestic violence; domestic assault.

It shall be unlawful for any person to commit an assault or assault and battery upon a spouse or former spouse, an individual with whom he or she has or has had a dating relationship, an individual with whom he or she has had a child in common, or a resident or former resident of his or her household.  As used in this ordinance, “dating relationship” means frequent, intimate associations primarily characterized by the expectation of affectional involvement.  This term does not include a casual relationship or an ordinary fraternization between two individuals in a business or social context.  This section shall be enforced in accordance with MCL 264.15a.
