DAVISBURG, Michigan – What’s good enough for the girls is now good enough for the boys, too, at Pretty Pony Pastures in Davisburg.

On Tuesday, Linda Watson, owner and operator for Pretty Pony Pastures announced that her facility is now offering Cub Scouts the opportunity to earn horseback riding belt loops and sport pins. Watson said this award was recently added by the Boy Scouts of America last December.

“We’ve been offering Girl Scout patch and badge sessions for the past seven years, so when the opportunity to add sessions for the Cub Scout horseback riding belt loop and sport pin presented itself, we added it to our program immediately,” Watson said.

In addition to a short riding lesson, Watson said the scouts will learn about horse safety, grooming, the proper technique for weighing and measuring a horse, horse nutrition, and the importance of riding helmets. The 90 minute session costs $15 per participant.

For more information or to schedule a session for your den or pack, contact Watson at (248) 634-7276 or via email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
