Spot Shooter Archery opens “Bibi’s Bait and Tackle”

HOLLY, Michigan – Since Holly is home to some of the best fishing in Oakland County, it’s only natural that it should have one of the best bait and tackle stores in the county, too.

Having recently expanded his store to occupy the space formerly occupied by Big Tony’s Pizza, Spot Shooter Archery Owner Jim Beasley and his partner, Bibi Troupe decided to go into the bait and tackle business by opening “Bibi’s Bait and Tackle.”

“Spot Shooter Archery is celebrating 10 years of business in Holly this year, so it’s nice that we have been able to expand and improve the store at this time, too,” Beasley said. “We opened Bibi’s Bait and Tackle in mid-June, and since then, word has been getting around that we sell live bait, fishing tackle – basically everything you’ll need out on the lake, seven days a week.”

Carrying a diverse selection of tackle and light fishing equipment, Bibi’s Bait and Tackle also carries live worms, crawlers, shiners, and minnows. If they don't stock a particular bait, Beasley said he will make a special order. Additionally, Beasley said they will also soon be selling hunting and fishing licenses.

“I couldn’t do it without Bibi,” Beasley said of Troupe. “She’s here every morning at 5:30 a.m. – and steadily as the word gets out, we’re doing more and more business.”

Striving for the hometown appeal, Beasley said he hopes to line the walls of the shop with 8 by 10 photographs of trophy catches made on area lakes.

“I want people to bring in 8 by 10 photos of the fish they have caught on lakes around here,” Beasley said. “At Spot Shooter Archery, we have done that with deer taken in the area, and we’ve found that customers really like to see that what area hunters bag.”

In addition to bait and tackle, Bibi’s Bait Shop carries light snacks, coffee, soft drinks and ice.

“We’re hoping to sell fresh local donuts, too – just make it a one-stop hometown bait shop,” Beasley said.

Spot Shooter Archery and Bibi’s Bait and Tackle are located at 3525 Grange Hall Road in Lowe’s Plaza. Bibi’s is open from 5:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 5:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, and 5:30 – noon on Sunday.
