HOLLY, Michigan – Studio Two Fifteen, 215 S. Saginaw St, Holly, will host its first annual Juvenile Dermatomystis (JDMS) fundraising event from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011.

Studio Two Fifteen owner, Jamie Ross said the goal of the event is to raise awareness of JDMS. Proceeds from the event will be donated to a local family who has been affected by the disease to help pay for necessities not covered by medical insurance.

JDMS is an autoimmune disease that manifests itself in children, causing the body's immune system to attack blood vessels throughout the body, causing inflammation called vasculitis. The condition makes it impossible to do simple everyday activities such as sitting and walking.

Cost for the event is $10 per person.  The fundraiser will offer participants Zumba, fun, music, refreshments, 50/50 raffle and a silent auction.  The silent auction will contain items donated by local businesses.  From 1 - 3 p.m., participants can enjoy Zumba, an activity that combines fun, easy-to-follow dance steps with hot Latin beats to help you shed pounds and inches fast.

The 50/50 raffle and silent auction will take place from 3pm - 4pm.  Raffle tickets are currently on sale at Studio Two Fifteen for $1 per ticket or $5 for 10 tickets.

This year’s proceeds from the JDMS Fundraising Event will go to 7-year old Carol and her mother Jenni, from Wixom, whose lives have been turned upside down in the matter of 4 months as a result of JDMS.   Carol was an active and lively 7-year-old girl, who loved to play and dance around with her friends.  In March, 2011 Carol started to have trouble getting up from sitting on the floor, and by May, could no longer sit on the floor.  As time went on, getting dressed was a struggle for Carol as well as reaching her hands to her face to scratch her nose.  Carol was diagnosed with JDMS in July.

Studio Two Fifteen, located in the historical district of downtown Holly, is a fitness facility committed to providing quality fitness solutions, offering quality fitness solutions through a variety of classes, boot-camps and personal training.  Studio Two Fifteen opened in May of this year.
